The challenge for me is to imagine where my art practice will go as it bounces off my research. I have some tentative, very tentative, ideas and I will look back at these and laugh I’m sure. Perhaps I will use portraits of the landscape artists as a starting point… preferably distorted in some way to indicate the way their images were distorted by those who commented on their work at the time or the distortions added by history.
Perhaps I will use the landscapes they painted as a starting point. One particularly crazy idea I had was to visit their landscapes (assuming they are not buried under subdivisions) and gather some of the plant material found there to make handmade paper, and incorporate this into the work in some way. Hmmmm…. maybe not.
